The Ishtar Gate is the eighth gate of the inner city of Babylon, located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers (in present-day Iraq). It was constructed by King Nebuchadnezzar II in the 6th century BCE, who dedicated it to Ishtar, the goddess of love and war.
